requires a curtain amount of flexibility and stability to ride with comfort and
accuracy. When working along side animals a curtain level of confidence and
assertiveness is required. Like any sport horseback riding has risks and
possible hazards.
What clothing will you need to get started?:
- You will require to have a properly
fitting ASTM and/or SEI approved helmet that has not been used in an
accident. We can provide helmets on a temporary basis while the student is
trying out the sport.
- There are NO exceptions, everyone wears a
helmet.
- You will require a well fitted boot that
has a minimal tread and a 1' heel. This prevents the foot from slipping to
far into the stirrup. A nice rubber boot is good for beginner riders.
- You will also need to keep all long hair
tied in a low pony tale.
- Gloves with grips are always a good idea.
- Pants should allow some stretch, won't rub
the inside of your leg and are not of slippery or noisy material.
What should I look for in a facility?:
- Ontario Equestrian Facilities Members are
governed and have to pass qualifications.
- Certified Coaches and Assistant staff.
- Clean, dry, safe Facilities
- Healthy looking animals.
